Renewable energy assets have a performance gap. The cause is unattributed.
Every decision on a renewable asset sits between two forces: capture more revenue today, or protect more value for tomorrow. Dispatch intensity. Maintenance timing. Contract terms. That tradeoff runs across the asset's entire life — and it runs without full information.
Attribution makes better decisions possible.
Not just better reporting — better decisions. What you do today with a renewable energy asset shapes its trajectory for the next 15–25 years. The attribution model tells you which decisions are moving value, which are eroding it, and what changes now to protect the asset through its full life. Design partners contribute data now and use the model first.
The shift
Today
- Why is performance below expectation? Unknown
- What is the optimal cycling strategy to maximise lifetime value? Unknown
- Who is responsible for the gap? Disputed
- What should I do, and by when? Unclear
- What will happen depending on my choices? Unknown
With attribution
- Why is performance below expectation? 3 channels, attributed
- What is the optimal cycling strategy to maximise lifetime value? Modelled
- Who is responsible for the gap? Party + clause
- What should I do, and by when? Action + deadline
- What will happen depending on my choices? Modelled forward
The roadmap
Where we are. Where this goes.

- → Contractual exposure in euros
Research
Attribute causally
- → Attribution model across the key performance drivers

- → Model any decision before making it
- → Lifetime NPV with confidence bounds
- → Optimal dispatch boundary
- → Fleet-level intervention signals
Every decision made on a renewable asset today shapes its value for the next 15–25 years. Attribution is what makes those decisions grounded — and improvable.
Research Partnership
We are looking for asset owners to build this with us.
The causal attribution model requires real operating data from real assets. In return, design partners receive the findings on their own assets first — before any publication or wider release.
If you own or manage renewable energy assets in European markets, we want to hear from you.
Why this requires owner data
Every party has their view. Only the owner needs the full picture.
Each counterparty — optimiser, O&M provider, OEM — sees their own layer and reports from their own position. That is not a problem; it is simply how the structure works. But it means the owner is the only party making decisions across all layers simultaneously, without an independent view of how they interact. Dispatch choices affect hardware health. Maintenance timing affects contract exposure. Contract terms affect what dispatch is even possible.
| Optimiser | O&M provider | OEM | Asset owner | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dispatch data | ✓ | — | — | ✓ |
| Maintenance records | — | ✓ | — | ✓ |
| Hardware data | — | — | ✓ | ✓ |
| Contracts | — | — | — | ✓ |
The owner holds all four. Cross-layer attribution is only possible — and only meaningful — from that seat.
Assets we are looking for
BESS assets. Any configuration.
The research is focused on battery energy storage — standalone or co-located. Assets do not need to be in the same market or share a connection. Variation across the dataset is what makes the model robust.
PV + BESS
Solar and battery
Shared grid connection. Dispatch and degradation interact directly. Most common co-located configuration.
Wind + BESS
Wind and battery
Variable generation profile creates distinct dispatch and degradation dynamics. Different O&M and contract structure.
Standalone BESS
Battery only
No co-location required. Merchant, capacity market, or ancillary services dispatch. Multiple chemistries and OEMs welcome.
What we are looking for across the dataset
Diversity strengthens the model
- → Different technologies and OEMs
- → Different markets and locations
- → Different stages of asset lifecycle
What the research needs
Three categories. All owner-held.
Minimum 12 months operating history. Data you are contractually entitled to — we work with what you have access to.
Contracts
O&M, optimiser, OEM warranty
Reports
Dispatch logs, O&M reports, capacity tests
Hardware data
BMS records, metering, operational logs
Attribution findings
Causal findings on your assets — before any publication
Individual asset data is never disclosed. Published outputs use anonymised aggregate findings only. A data processing agreement is signed before any transfer. Governed by Estonian law. Participating organisations retain the right to withdraw and request deletion at any point.
While the research runs
Resolve is already working on your assets.
Design partners use Resolve from day one — the research runs in parallel.
Live today
Was cycling worth it?
Higher dispatch generates more revenue — and accelerates degradation. Resolve calculates whether the additional revenue exceeded the lifecycle cost and where that leaves your reinvestment window.
Live today
Where does the gap sit?
Preliminary decomposition across dispatch, maintenance, and hardware — telling you where to look. Causal attribution with confidence bounds is what the research builds.
Live today
Where does your exposure sit?
Every contractual obligation tracked — warranties, LDs, covenants. Priced in euros. Assigned to a party. Updated quarterly.
Live today
Where is your reinvestment window?
Degradation modelled against actual cycling history. What decisions today move that window?
